The health and fitness journey is just that….a journey. There are ups and downs that sometimes make it impossible to win.
When do we realize that we need to make a life change in the health and fitness area in our lives? It may be when you realize your clothes are fitting a little tighter, when you are winded from walking up a flight of stairs, or when you look back at old pictures of yourself. Mine was all three.
Being in the Army since I was a 17, you would think that fitness would be a way of life since we do it often. You would think, because I help hundreds of women crush their health and fitness goals, that I am always in photo shoot ready shape. WRONG! I had two c-sections and when I tell you the recovery was rough, whew. I had an unrealistic expectation that I was going to lose the 45 pounds that I had gained in 2 months. Yea, it took more like 6 months.
Along with that comes children, age, and life. At some point you let yourself go without even knowing it. When this happens, you must look in the mirror and be completely honest with yourself. Am I ready to put in the hard work or can I just accept this image that I am unhappy with? Change is hard, but that does not mean it is impossible.
The first step is to identify your goal; what you want to change. Let us just say your goal is to lose 15 pounds in 2 months. Now, let us identify what steps you need to take to reach that goal. This may include eliminating coffee that
is loaded with sugar or flavored creamer, sodas, excessive alcohol, and those zebra cakes you go to when you are feeling down.
Whatever it is, you can do it with planning, preparation, motivation, support, execution, and accountability.
